The use of Fe-Multi Nutrient Folate and Micro / MGM as good for pregnant women, especially weight gain during pregnancy. Ideally Addition Pregnancy Weight Loss / PBBH of 12.5 kg.
Most mothers who have pre-pregnancy weight (BBpH) is low and inadequate PBBH can negatively impact on her fetus growth, said Helwiah Umniyati while defending his dissertation to obtain his doctorate in Public Health Sciences at the University of Indonesia in Depok, Wednesday (7 / 1).
Helwiah who presented a dissertation titled Influence of Micro Nutrient Supplements Multi Addition Pregnancy Weight Gain: A Prospective Study in Lombok passed by judicium very satisfying.
The main goal of research conducted by Helwiah was to assess the effect of MGM against PBBH supplementation compared with Fe-folate supplementation, which is a program of supplementation in pregnant women in Indonesia to date.
This study uses secondary data from the SUMMIT (supplementation with micronutrients Multiple Intervention Trial), the double-blind controlled trial studies in pregnant women on the island of Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.
In the SUMMIT study supplementation given to pregnant women from enrollment until three months after giving birth and 50 percent of pregnant women consume 85 percent or more supplements are given. PBBH calculation is done using a formula that has been tested previously.
From 05.29 42 cohort of pregnant women in SUMMIT data, 7348 were given as many as 3639 Fe Folic pregnant women and MGM are given in 3718 pregnant women who meet the inclusion criteria: maternal weight was measured twice during pregnancy with a minimum distance of 11 weeks, the first heavy entrepre kuran performed at the gestational age of less than 24 weeks and the second measurement when more than 28 weeks gestation.
The results of this study indicate that there was no significant difference PBBH between mothers who ate MGM and mothers who consumed iron-folate.
The study also did not show the exact effect of such supplementation on PBBH. PBBH average 9.04 kg in Lombok is much lower than the average PBBH recommended in developing countries that is equal to 12.5 kg, said Helwiah.
Compared with other regions in Indonesia, according to Helwiah, PBBH in Lombok is higher than in Madura PBBH ie 6.6 kg, and slightly higher than in Purworejo PBBH (8.3 kg) and in Indramayu (8.9 kg).
The majority (75 percent) of pregnant women in Lombok has yet to reach PBBH adequate, especially in mothers who have BBpH less than 40 kg, the proportion of inadequate PBBH reached 97 percent
